Condensed Section

In a stratigraphic section, this is an increase or flood of fossils related to the maximum flooding surface. These fossil concentrations are critical to sequence stratigraphic modeling. Within a thin stratigraphic section, several marker species (Extinction Points) may be unusually compressed.
