What is a Coordinate System?
For good overviews on Coordinate Reference Systems (CRS), check these links:
- http://www.colorado.edu/geography/gcraft/notes/coordsys/coordsys_f.html (contains some information about many coordinate systems used today)

Source Information
The EPSG (http://www.epsg.org/), the European Petroleum Survey Group, is widely acknowledged as the leading source for coordinate reference systems (CRS). From this website, you can download the set of CRS currently available. The PPDM Association endeavors to load the most current dataset into the PPDM tables that are prefixed "CS_".
Best Practice Recommendations
- All coordinates should be referenced by a valid CRS
