Documentation

PPDM delivers the following documentation:

  • Data Diagrams, showing PK components, FK relationships.
  • Table report, a formatted report containing definitions and field descriptions for all tables and columns.
  • Mapping between previous and current release.

DDL

PPDM delivers DDL in most commonly used RDBMS syntax, as described in section 3 of this document.

Reference Guides

PPDM creates reference guides that are intended to help the implementor understand the use and function of each module.

Sample and Reference data

PPDM creates sample and reference data that will help illustrate the use of the model and provide a starting point for some implementations. A reference guide for the creation of standard reference values exists.

The type of sample data is indicated in the column “ROW_QUALITY” in each table:

  • SAMPLE: The data is hypothetical sample data created by the work group. While it may be representative of real data, it should not be treated as such.
  • REAL: Where actual sample data is provided by a member or available through a public data source, this data may be included. This is real data, but may not be relevant to your implementation. It provides helpful illustrations about how the model is to be used.
  • REFERENCE: where available from some source, the source is attributed. Care should be taken to ensure that you have appropriate rights to use data sources. While the PPDM Association takes every care to ensure that the data sources references are available to the membership, authorizations to use reference data may not always apply to all implementation teams.
  • DEPRECATED: indicates a reference or real value that was used in the past, but that is no longer in use. Historical data may still be referenced to deprecated values.
