Overview: Spatially Enabling PPDM Lite 1.0

Note that if you are implementing Version 1.1, while the steps are still valid, you will need to manually update the sample code in each step reflect the modifications from Version 1.0 to Version 1.1.

The Spatial IV downloads are integrated into the following step-by-step format. Detailed directions are available in the PPDM Lite Spatial Reference Guide (PDF).

Create a PPDM Lite 1.0 Database by running the DDL on the PPDM Web Site

Create a Personal Geodatabase

Load PPDM Lite from PPDM 3.7 by running the “initial load” scripts

Create the procedures that will keep PPDM 3.7 and PPDM Lite in synch with each other.

These procedures exist on PPDM 3.7 and are initialized when a trigger fires.

Create a set of triggers that fire when data in PPDM 3.7 is created, changed or deleted.

These triggers will start the appropriate synchronization procedure (3)

Create Java program and deploy it to PPDM LITE to be called from PL/SQL procedure for generating SDE binary

Java programs will receive parameters from procedure and generate GIS objects.

Create PL/SQL wrapper procedures for each triggers (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE).

These procedures map PL/SQL parameters to Java parameters

Create triggers on Spatial Tables : L_SP_LINE_POINT, L_SP_BOUNDARY, L_SP_POINT, L_SEIS_POINT.

The trigger gets fired when coordinate information is added, changed or deleted which in turn will call procedures in step 6.

Create a Personal Geodatabase.
