Project Description
The consultant certification work group will seek to develop a process for training people how to properly implement PPDM standards (typically the data model). A process for testing competence in order to arrive at a level of certification will also be defined. It will be desirable but not necessary to take training in order to obtain certification.
Objectives and Vision
As the number of PPDM implementations continues to grow, our industry needs to be able to certify that consultants and other specialists they retain are properly trained and qualified to implement PPDM standards. Over time, data management specialists in the Oil and Gas industry want to improve their ability to communicate and share information between partners, regulators, service providers and technical software.
If this is to happen, our industry must work towards consistency in implementations; an important step in this process will be to ensure that our development community shares a common understanding of the standards. International participation and applicability will be essential components of this process, since PPDM is used all over the world.
Benefits
The PPDM Association uses a round table approach to model definition that will allow international member companies from all business sectors to collaboratively describe a method for measuring the skills of a PPDM consultant. This certification will verify that an individual has mastered specific skills, allowing potential employers to select team members with appropriate skill sets.
