The PPDM Association has two distinct components under the "learning" umbrella. Education and Training.
Education refers to the development of the Petroleum Data Manager (PDM) credentialed program, currently being developed by the Petroleum Education Task Force (PETF).
We recognize petroleum data management as a desired career destination with solid industry demand, but currently no comprehensive curriculum or path exists for those wanting to enter this area of work. Nor is there a solid foundation of coursework that would provide current petroleum data managers an opportunity to increase their knowledge or upgrade their skills. The work of the PETF will alter this landscape dramatically.
For more information on the work of the PETF, please click on the "PETF" subheading.
Training refers to classroom or online courses offered by the PPDM Association. The classroom course series focuses on the use of the PPDM Data Model, and has been highly successful over the past fifteen years. More recently, we have experienced a spike in our global member demand for PPDM training. In 2011 we delivered training in Indonesia, Australia, and the USA to name a few. In addition, we were pleased to host a delegation from Kuwait for a two week training session. This trend continues into 2012.
The Association presently offers thirteen courses to assist E&P companies, regulatory agencies and the related service industry in assessing the benefits, uses and implementation of PPDM. To book private training for your company contact us immediately - the calendar is filling up fast!
The PPDM course series describe how using Public Petroleum Data Model for geotechnical data stores can reduce IS costs and increase the productivity of E&P professionals. The Public Petroleum Data Model (PPDM) is a physical data model that describes the subject areas associated with oil and gas exploration activities including wells, production, stratigraphy, seismic, land mineral rights, contracts, partnerships, records management, lithology and more.
The E&P industry needs to know how to achieve the benefits that the Public Petroleum Data Model Association offers to their strategic planning for data management initiatives and technology acquisition. Each course is taught by highly experienced professionals who can provide valuable insight into the Association and the Model.
