PPDM Announces Appointment of New CEO

Release Demonstrates New CEO Appointment Supports PPDM's Expanded International Strategic Direction

February 12, 2001 -- The Board of Directors of the Public Petroleum Data Model (PPDM) Association is pleased to announce the appointment of F. Scott Beaugrand, P. Eng, to the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 1999. PPDM's strategy for model implementation throughout the petroleum industry requires an expanded marketing and international focus in addition to current technical development processes. The PPDM Board of Directors has replaced the Executive Director position, and defined the new role of CEO, a contract position with responsibility for accomplishing all of the goals of the Association.

The PPDM Association is a non-profit organization through which members world-wide cooperate to develop an open standard data model as the foundation for managing information as an essential asset in the global business of oil & gas exploration and production. Mr Beaugrand's extensive management experience in the international oil and gas industry enables him to provide strong leadership for PPDM in the global marketplace. The Association's principal products are the Public Petroleum Data Model, now released in Version 3.4, and related expertise and documentation. The Association is a unique virtual community of technical experts in engineering, land contract, finance, and geoscience information. Collectively, these volunteer participants define the business requirements and technical solutions, enabling PPDM to be acknowledged as "the business-driven standard". There are currently 120 member companies, encompassing oil producers, software and data vendors, regulatory agencies, and industry consultants. Expansion of the Model is presently underway in subject areas of stratigraphy, land, spatial data, seismic, and reference tables.
