PPDM master data at heart of Oracle's Digital Oilfield Speaking at the recent Oracle Crystal Ball user group (OITJ Jan 08) Oracle's oil and gas supremo David Shimbo updated Oracle's digital oilfield (ODO) initiatives (OITJ June 07). Shimbo restated Oracle's commitment to delivering digital oilfield solutions by providing an E&P data management framework, an application integration architecture and PPDM-based master data management. The architecture will allow oil companies to deploy best-of-breed applications with integrated data access across the enterprise.
Master data management solution goes global No one would accuse Chevron of thinking small. The California-based petroleum company produces over 2.6 million b/d from 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent reserves. It invests billions of dollars every year in major exploration projects from the Gulf of Mexico to Angola, and owns refineries, gas stations and other petroleum outlets in 175 countries. Oil and gas are transported in over 22,000 km of their pipelines and 44 seagoing vessels.
